Philosophy of Athlete Development

Image
I believe that true athlete development must address both the body and the mind. As a future Physical Therapist, I focus on providing evidence-based rehabilitation that restores strength, motility, and function while also nurturing mental resilience and emotional well-being. Injury prevention, individualized recovery plans, and motivational support are critical to success. I advocate for a holistic, athlete-centered approach that emphasizes education, self-efficiency, and long-term wellness beyond athletic competition. My goal is to return athletes to the field and empower them to perform at an even higher level than before the injury occurred.

My name is Monica Fencil, and I'm from a smaller town, Butler, Pennsylvania. I am currently pursuing a degree in Exercise Science (Pre-Physical Therapy) at Kent State University, where I have built a strong academic foundation in human anatomy, biomechanics, and athlete development.  Growing up, I was always fascinated by how the human body moves, heals, and adapts. My love for sports and physical performance, combined with the desire to help others overcome challenges, led me to choose the path of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I am passionate about working with professional and collegiate athletes, helping them recover from injuries and return to doing what they love. Stronger and more resilient than ever. Beyond the classroom, I enjoy staying active, whether it is at the gym or exploring new outdoor activites. I am also deeply interested in the mental side of sports performance, including motivation, resilience, and leadership development - all of which I aim to integrat...
